Last class for the term finally out of the way, and it was really about time Effy started to think about her trip home tomorrow, and... well, the packing she had to do for it.

Sure, she probably had enough stuff back in Bristol to get by for a week, but an overnight bag at least might be a good idea, and she yanked one out from under her bed to throw a few things into.

If nothing else, she was looking forward to seeing Tony, maybe even Pandora, though she might be less likely to admit to that second one. The couple of things she actually missed about home were the people. That was something she'd never really imagined would be the case.

"You haven't given me a decent reason to yet," she pointed out, kicking her bag under her desk, something to be finished later, and wandered over to look down at him.

"There's gotta be a reason to give orders?" he wondered, leaning back on his hands and looking up at her. "Usually an order means compliance without needing a reason."

Such a bullshitter.

"Maybe for some people." Like him, obviously. "I like my reasons."

"Call it incentive."

"I don't feel like giving you reasons," he said, shrugging lightly. "Because whose to say it'd be good enough? And I seem to always have to give reasons or wants or needs or creative thinking because you fail at that."

Of course, he said all that with a smug smile.

"Not really the way to get me to do anything," she told him, watching his current relaxation.

"In case you were wondering."

"And here I thought you'd think honesty was the best policy," he said, smirking again and just laying back on her bed, one arm tucked under his head so he could still see her. "What kind of entertainment would you be providing anyway?"

"Nothing wrong with honesty." That didn't mean she was just going to unquestioningly do what he told her to.

"Can sit and watch me pack, if you really want." She didn't think that was quite the sort of thing he had in mind.

It wasn't and if she started to pack, he'd be liable to just dump that bag again for fun.

"Or give you an incentive or a reason for entertainment, huh?" he asked, voicing his other option. "I could always give you an IOU. You could hang that over my head till you wanted to call it in."

That was another choice she'd approve of, yeah.

"Sounds like you want me to pick that option." More than sitting there watching her just potter around throwing things into a bag, at least.

"I've got no issue watching you pack," he said because he was kind of comfortable now. "I'll take a nap right here or something. I gave you an option. If I gotta work harder, you'd better be upping your entertainment promises."

Effy considered that, and nodded a sort of agreement.

"No packing, then," she said, and smirked. "You fall asleep there, might never be able to move you." He was a bit bigger than her, as he so loved to point out.

"You taking the IOU then?" he wondered, still not moving from his comfortable position. "Or you want me to try and come up with some other incentive for you?"

"I'll take an IOU," she agreed. "You gonna write it down for me, signed and official?"

Kind of fun to have something like that to hold over his head.

"Get me a pen and some paper and I'll make it official," he said, kicking his legs against her bed. If she wanted it official, he could do that. "I'll put little stars on it just for you."

She could do that, and moved away from him to find a biro and something to write on which she tossed onto his stomach.

If he was going to take up space on her bed, she could drop things on him.

And smirk. Because like she wouldn't at this juncture.

"Cute," he said, picking both things up and scribbling a few things on the piece of paper. He folded it up and then handed it back to her.

When she opened it, she'd see: IOU one thing of your choice. If you pick something dumb, I will make fun of you.

And there was a happy face next to his name. "Keep it in a safe place so you can redeem it."

Of course she'd be keeping it safe, and she pointedly wandered over to pin it right in the middle of the board behind her desk.

"It disappears, I know you're just trying to get out of your side of this deal."

"I'm not a fucking quitter," he said, Griff's words from the other day coming back to him. "I don't duck deals. Maybe that's your job."

"I'm keeping it so far," she pointed out, making her way back over.

"Not packing and sending you to sleep."

"I could fall asleep anyway," he said, getting comfortable again. "I'm very relaxed right now."

"Wouldn't be much point in telling me to entertain you." She didn't think he'd actually do that. "Waste of an IOU."

"True," he said, grinning up at her again. "Maybe I'll fall asleep later. After I see how good of an entertainer you are."

"Thought I'd proved that already," she said. "Seemed to think I was pretty entertaining then. Nothing's changed."

"I didn't say you had to prove anything," he pointed out, shaking his head. "But anyone can have an off day. Maybe you're tired or something. Got a little too much on your mind and can't focus."

"Nothing on my mind, not having a sleep problem... No off day." She smiled, cocking her head as she looked at him.

"So, am I supposed to bust out a board game, or was there some specific entertainment you were looking for from your side of this IOU?"
