Outside Pixie Stix Cabin [Saturday, Late Morning]

There was something Effy liked about staying up all night. Seeing the day start from what still felt, to her, like the closing of another one. The strangest things appealed to her, and could easily occupy her thoughts like that. For hours, sometimes.

It was possible... (okay, yes probable) that Effy hadn't bothered to sober up, and she was still slightly drunk from her night out. It put her in a lighter, if odder, mood than usual.

Half-drunk or not, it was still around about breakfast time, and after making her toast in the cabin, she took it outside to eat on the steps. Hangover hadn't yet hit, and she was warding it off as long as possible. Until it did, she was going to enjoy the sun.

[[Front porch, so ofc open. I was meaning to press post when it was actually still morning, and... yeah.]]

Yes, book boy. He wasn't sure if that meant that she didn't remember his name or was just making up a nickname, but he didn't want to offend her by correcting her in case she did remember, so he didn't say anything.

And he picked up on the irony in that, but not in her tone. "Yes, outside the cabin we share," he pointed out, thinking he was being clever.

Effy rolled her eyes, and shook her head. Boys were fucking slow catching on to the subtler side of interactions.

"Early for you?" Well, half the guys she'd known didn't wake up until noon, it would point towards an answer to his slow uptake.

"Actually, I woke up around five," he said, still bitter about that annoying phone call that had woken him up. Also, it was fun to mess with people's exprectations like that. "And yourself?"

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2010-07-31 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"I didn't." Well, she didn't wake up today. Near enough. Normal sleep schedules were for normal people. Which... Effy was not. "Apparently, you can sleep when you're dead." Or so the saying went. It worked with her philosophy on things.

"Some can," he agreed, thinking of vampires. "Apparently my father subscribes to that belief as well, as he saw fit to wake me up with a phone call at what most would consider a thoroughly inappropriate hour."

"Trouble with living in the past." Effy'd had multiple antisocial calls from her parents when they forgot that little timezone issue. At least they didn't do it maliciously, but it was a right pain.

"Could turn your phone off," she pointed out.

[identity profile] wesleynotponcy.livejournal.com 2010-07-31 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not allowed," he said mournfully. "Also. I"m not entirely sure how."

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2010-07-31 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"Chuck it in the fire," she suggested, almost seriously, "off a cliff... In a lake?" All solutions. Depended how desperate you were to avoid early wake-up calls.

"Maybe you slipped. Oops."

[identity profile] wesleynotponcy.livejournal.com 2010-07-31 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"I doubt that will be necessary, but thank you for the suggestion," he said politely. But being up early doesn't bother me so much. Being up early and packing my things for a three-week return home? Kinda did.

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2010-07-31 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Effy shrugged. It was a great, slightly vodka-fueled, suggestion. Or something.

"Gonna miss us?" Because she was such a missable cabinmate to have. Clearly. So sociable and delightful.

[identity profile] wesleynotponcy.livejournal.com 2010-07-31 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[wow, I totally failed writing that last one. sorry about that!]

"Oh, yes," he replied, dripping with sarcasm. "I don't know how I'll go on without all seven of you... charming cabinmates."

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2010-07-31 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeaaah, Effy wasn't a cabin-living fan either. Having people around 24-7 was very overrated.

"What, listening to a bunch of people snore every night doesn't do it for you?"

[identity profile] wesleynotponcy.livejournal.com 2010-07-31 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"Strangely not." Sure, he was used to it from living in a boarding school for years, but it was definitely not his favorite thing. "Many of our cabinmateds should really consider perhaps investing in a nasal spray."

that's what I get for trying to change stuff without looking at the screen. and typing on my phone.

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2010-07-31 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"Could leave it as a going away present. Save the rest of us." Effy wouldn't be that generous when she was leaving for a few weeks, but perhaps Wesley was.

[identity profile] wesleynotponcy.livejournal.com 2010-07-31 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"I can't say I have any," he said, not sure if she was kidding. "Though I hear Nasonex makes a fairly passable spray."

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2010-08-01 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Kidding. Although it would have amused her had he actually gone and done it. Effy raised slightly amused eyebrows.

"That... is more than I'd know." Because strangely enough, she didn't go in for knowing all about nasal spray. If it might have got her high, she would have considered it. As it was... No.

[identity profile] wesleynotponcy.livejournal.com 2010-08-01 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. Chalk that up to being a complete idiot around every girl he'd ever met, ever. "Right," he said, convinced that he wasn't turning red. (He was.)

"Well! Moving on from this lovely conversation, how have you been?"

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2010-08-01 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"Good. Actually." Which for her, was positively scary. She'd dwell on that later, when the feeling faded and she let herself fall back into her darker patterns.

"For now." But there was a smile to go with her prediction of a limited duration. A night out and smoothing a few things over with Alex had done a lot for her mood.
