Pixie Stix Cabin Roof [Sunday, Evening]

Effy didn't know any dead people. Not well enough to get any visitors the last couple days, anyway, and for that she was grateful. Her live and kicking relatives were more than enough for her to deal with.

Or they had been. Right now, she was hearing so little from any of them, it was... weird. Tony was on an island in South East Asia doing some kind of voluntary crap, her mum had skipped off to Italy with no return date in sight (and had already been there a week before she decided to mention this, in a voicemail no less), and when it came to her dad... Who the fuck knew. Either way, it meant a quiet few weeks. She'd claim until the end of time she didn't care but... she was here, and they all seemed to be forgetting she even existed. It was a shitty feeling.

She didn't have much to unpack, and even if she had she wouldn't be in the mood to do anything about it right now, and just being in a small cabin with eight other people with nothing to distract her wasn't really her speed tonight. Like it ever was.

So, brooding. Sulking. Smoking. Whatever. On the roof. No dead relatives or friends necessary.

[[It's a roof, so, you know... ooopen, if anyone else would clamber up there. Or wants to talk at her from down below. I'm bored.]]

"I can't remember yours." Maybe he could. If he tried. He could be a stubborn ass too. "That mean you're not interesting to me today?"

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2010-07-18 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"Means your poetry wasn't very interesting." Because her not being exciting to him was not an option.

"You remember me." And he didn't remember the poetry, therefore...

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2010-07-18 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"Think so?" Alex asked, raising an eyebrow at that even if she couldn't see it. Getting up on the roof would probably be better for conversation but...not yet.

"Why so confident about that?" Especially since he'd been bitchy lately.

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2010-07-18 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"That you remember me?" Well, he was here and talking to her, so... there was that. "Figured it'd be obvious if you didn't."

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2010-07-18 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"Obvious to who?" Alex asked, just poking for answers. "I could just be having a nice day, talking to people I see outside on my way to get trashed."

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2010-07-18 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"All these 'could's and 'maybe's," Effy noted. "Little bit suspicious." They fell back on them a lot when they were doing their vague and non-committy bit.

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2010-07-18 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Alex wasn't going to answer that just yet. Instead, he was going to ask, "Can I fucking come up there? I feel like a Shakespearean hero right now."

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
A brief hint of amusement tugged at Effy's lips, and she tipped her head back behind her.

"Easy way up 'round the back." Or relatively so. It had been worth the effort. She liked heights, okay?

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 10:55 am (UTC)(link)
"I've climbed onto roofs before," he said, disappearing from her view so he could actually get up on the roof and stop hollering like he was some fucking movie cliche.

Once up there, he couldn't help stomping on the roof a few times to send a message to her cabinmates below before wandering over.

"Suspicious how?" he asked, rounding back to that question. "You some detective now?"

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 11:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Can't you just see it? Me solving crime and upholding the law." She'd have to arrest herself several times over.

... No, definitely not her calling. "I just know you, she clarified. Didn't have to be a detective for that.

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 11:40 am (UTC)(link)
"You think you do." He was just feeling petulant and edgy tonight. Of course he was going to try and argue with her. "You know what I let you know."

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 12:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"How are you so sure about that?" she threw back easily. He'd asked similar of her, she was just giving it back now.

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 12:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"You some sort of mind reader?" Alex asked, raising an eyebrow. "If you're not, then you know what I let you know. If you are, we're gonna have some issues if you've kept that from me for this long."

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Because they were so completely issue-free anyway.

"Can't dig around in your brain. Don't worry." And in truth, she wouldn't really want it that way. Where was the challenge in knowing everything you wanted to? "Your deep dark secrets are safe."

For this rare occasion, she was sensible enough not to mention other ways she might be able to find things out about him. Not like she used any of them anyway.

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"So, what makes you think you know me, then?" Alex wondered, glancing at her. "Just your everlasting confidence? Could be failing you."

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, partly that. The confidence (or, at least the illusion of such) was always a factor.

"Didn't say I knew every little thing," she pointed out, leaning back on her hands. "Just that throwing around so many vague terms, makes me think you're avoiding admitting something." And so was she when the situation was reversed.

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"I've got nothing to admit," he said, shaking his head. "So, you're wrong there. Basing all your observations off semantics? That's a little weak, isn't it? I expected better."

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"So you don't remember me? At all." It seemed unlikely. That was simple logic. How often did people come down with amnesia in real life?

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"I didn't say that," Alex said, slanting a look at her. "How did we go from you only knowing what I let you know to me not knowing you? That's a fucking leap, right there. Might wanna pay attention."

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"That was the throwaway comment that started this stupid debate." Well, it was. And it seemed it was somehow irritating them both. How they managed that, she had no idea.

"Maybe you are more forgetful than I thought. My mistake."

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Honestly, Alex was having trouble remembering what started this whole thing. That tended to happen when he got lost in his own head and couldn't see past his issues.

"Maybe I am," he said, perfectly happy to get his hackles up and get irritated at her. He hadn't come looking for an argument but they seemed find the two of them lately. "Or maybe you're just forgettable."

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Effy sighed, rolling her eyes. "You come up here just to tell me that?" Invading her cabin roof solitude to be an ass. Nice.

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"I had a shit day. I wanted to see someone that didn't make me feel like shit," he said honestly. "If I wanted to start a fight, I'd go to the mainland and find a bar. Thinking highly of me still, I see."

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
That unexpected honesty threw her off a little, and she quiet for several long moments.

"Walls lose their appeal?" At least that edge of irritation in her voice had been muted. The sarcasm wasn't going anywhere, though.

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"There aren't any walls in the fucking cabins," Alex said, rolling his eyes at the sarcasm. "And I feel better if I hit some meathead, not some wall. Thanks for the checkup though."
