Room 323 [Thursday, Afternoon]

Her room felt bizarrely empty without Edward around, not that Effy would admit that out loud. Still, a week down the line with his stuff gone and the dorm lists changed, she was getting the feeling now, that he probably wasn't coming back.

So today, since she didn't really have anywhere else to be, was the day for rearranging and spreading herself out a little, and making the most of this having her own room.

Made it feel less empty, somehow, and gave her something to think about that wasn't what was going on at home, or certain other confusing moments of this week. Perfect, as far as she was concerned.

[[Door open, post open.]]

Something was definitely weird between them if they'd started talking about their respective classes just to get some stability back.

"For your very exciting nights out?" he asked, unable to stop the edge of sarcasm from showing itself there.

"Sometimes," she said, feeling pretty good about that one at least. Her nights out were fucking awesome. "Even the best of us need a break."

"I bow at your feet," he said, sarcastic again. "And today, you're moving furniture and being domestic. That's pretty adorable for someone who stays up all night, doing who knows what."

"A rare sight," she assured him. "It'll be worth it, though." Look at all her space.

And hey, no roommate to sexile whenever it came to that. There were some great bonuses to this.

"I'll take your word for it," he said and glanced around. "Want me to fuck off and leave you to it?"

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2009-09-05 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Unless you want to just sit there and watch." Sounded pretty boring though.

Somehow, she didn't think he'd want to do anything helpful. Hadn't gone for that option the last time.

"I don't wanna play audience today," he said, already climbing off her bed and getting to his feet. "I've got less boring things I could be doing."

"So you keep telling me," she said without much heat, watching him stand and leaning back on her hands in the new space. "Full schedule and all."

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2009-09-05 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
"You keep thinking I have all this free time. I don't," he said, not looking back at her while he straightened his shirt. "Yeah, it's a full schedule."

It was...nowhere near full but he didn't know what was going on anymore. He was just all kinds of out of whack.

Amazing how tiring even a pretty short conversation between them could be sometimes. His refusal to look at her, definitely wasn't helping with that.

Whatever, right? She didn't care.

Yeah... Right.

At least this time she had the sense to shut up, and just keep her eyes on him, rather than make anything worse.

And Alex knew she was looking at him and it made his shoulders tighten up with the strain of not looking at her. She'd said she didn't care, he said it back, gotta put up a good front, right?

Ugh.

"Don't have too much fun moving stuff around," he said, straightening his hair (really, his hair?) while he said that.

She huffed a little wry amusement as he fidgeted. Not like he'd even done anything much to fuck up his hair anyway.

"We'll see," she told him. "No guarantees." Tidying was such a party activity, after all.

"See you later, Effy," he said, still not looking back at her as he moved towards the door and slipped out without another word.

Stupid fucking emotions. Stupid everything. Alex barely resisted the urge to punch a wall as he stomped down the hall and down to his room.
