Room 323 [Monday, Afternoon]

Funny how what felt like hours of throwing the girl around yesterday had barely put a dent in her energy, and yet an early morning and an hour or so of class today had completely exhausted her. Maybe it was getting her into to plenty of leapfrog and hopscotch... Or maybe it was learning not to go along with endless requests for tea parties and sugar.

Well, whatever, Adele was currently crashed out asleep with her mouth open, and using Effy as a cushion. Tempted as she was to sneak off for a smoke, for now, she was basically stuck, cause moving was only going to wake her up again. It was actually quiet. Hadn't got that for the best part of a weekend. It was something to make the most of for however long it actually lasted.

Meantime, her phone was going to have to do for entertainment. People to text, games to play... few pictures to take (yeah yeah, of her kid). That sort of thing.

[[Open door, open post, etc etc. I'm around tonight and bored.]]

"I've shared with you," she pointed out, watching his movements with a slight smirk. Many times, actually. "You forget that?"

"I'm the exception to the rule," Alex said, taking a seat beside her and shrugging. "I'm the exception to all rules."

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're getting that purely because I share with you?" she wondered, tossing her phone a little way down the bed since she had better entertainment now. Answer was probably not, but that was the impression he was giving at the moment.

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"You share lots of things with me," he said, giving the kid an appraising look before glancing back up at her. "How many kids do you think we have elsewhere?"

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Effy huffed a brief laugh, idly winding a few strands of the little girl's hair around her finger. "Makes my head hurt to think about it." The idea there was at least two was strange enough.

"Put up with you that long in multiple worlds," she joked, finally looking back up at him. "Scary."

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, don't make it sound like such a bad thing," Alex joked back, rolling his eyes. "Obviously there's something about me you like enough to stick around."

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably more than just the singular something, but Effy's lips just twitched in a slight smile.

"Maybe not that scary," she allowed. They apparently managed to produce the sort of kid who didn't hate them, who was giggly and happy and well-adjusted. Clearly somewhere they were doing something right.

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"Should I take some pictures that you can send back to the folks and your brother?" Alex asked, smirking. "Sure Tony'll love it."

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Effy huffed another little breath of amusement, and inclined a slight nod. Tony probably would.

"Think my dad would implode if I mentioned her." Which made it not a completely unappealing plan.

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"We could say we'd gotten married before it happened, see if that helps," Alex offered, amused.

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2011-02-15 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh yeah. Making an honest woman out of me. Makes all the difference."

... Or not. Effy rolled her eyes casually and brushed that piece of hair back to somewhere that seemed vaguely in place.

"You know you'd get the blame, right?" Because as bad as she was, Effy was still their little girl, and they seemed to have a blind spot where she was concerned.

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2011-02-15 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
"You think your dad would come after me?" Alex wondered, still sounding amused. "I've had dads after me before, you know. I'm pretty adept at getting away, hiding or talking my way out of it."

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2011-02-15 07:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Betting you haven't had to talk your way out of a kid yet," she guessed, indicating Adele's dozing form. "How'd you do that?"

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2011-02-15 11:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Tell him we adopted out of the kindness of our hearts," Alex said, shrugging. "Wouldn't that make us compassionate people?"

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2011-02-15 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"Any likeness, purely coincidental," Effy remarked with a twitch of her smirk. "Don't think that'd get you off the hook." It wouldn't. Not that she thought it would be anything other than a lot of yelling. But it would be a lot. "New curses would be invented in your honour."

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2011-02-15 01:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"Why?" Alex asked, chuckling. "I'm not that bad at this. I'm better than my old man which is saying a fucking lot. Your dad could do worse in the department of a guy that knocked up his daughter."

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2011-02-15 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"Could be a fucking prince and he wouldn't like you for it." Like that was any surprise. That was any parent's reaction to a pregnant teenage daughter. "Probably better than him, too." After watching Adele shift and sigh in her sleep, Effy thought to lower her voice a little for her, "Go you."

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2011-02-15 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, let's not let that out for public consumption," Alex said, making a face. "I'd rather avoid people asking me why I've got a knack for taking care of kids. Not the greatest collection of memories."

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2011-02-15 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"Should know I'm good at secrets by now." She wouldn't go spreading that one, much as she might tease. There were certain things better left mysterious. She tapped her temple. All in there and staying there.

"She might tell people," Effy said, motioning downwards. "Seems like a sharer."

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2011-02-15 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, I don't expect her to be around for too long," Alex said bluntly. He shrugged a shoulder. "And if she does, I'll lie that she was lying and really, who are people gonna believe? Me or a cute kid?"

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2011-02-15 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Effy arched her eyebrows as if to ask if that was really a question.

... And if he really thought anyone would answer 'him' to that question.

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2011-02-15 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"What, you honestly think they'd seriously believe a kid?" Alex asked, making a face. "Come on."

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2011-02-15 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"She is cuter than you." That was undeniable. People tended to trust the sweet and innocent.

However much she smirked and told him he was fucking adorable to get a reaction, she was probably the only one to say so.

[identity profile] fratboybitch.livejournal.com 2011-02-15 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"That is because she's a kid," Alex enunciated, making another face. "That doesn't make her more honest. Everyone was cute as a kid. That doesn't mean they maintained that when they got older."

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2011-02-15 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"I've heard kids are more truthful. Less filters." Not every kid was an Effy sort who clammed up and gave people nothing. Most of them said everything that entered their little heads.

"Less embarrassment. Less likely to think about what other people might do with what they say."
