Room 323 [Monday, Afternoon]

Funny how what felt like hours of throwing the girl around yesterday had barely put a dent in her energy, and yet an early morning and an hour or so of class today had completely exhausted her. Maybe it was getting her into to plenty of leapfrog and hopscotch... Or maybe it was learning not to go along with endless requests for tea parties and sugar.

Well, whatever, Adele was currently crashed out asleep with her mouth open, and using Effy as a cushion. Tempted as she was to sneak off for a smoke, for now, she was basically stuck, cause moving was only going to wake her up again. It was actually quiet. Hadn't got that for the best part of a weekend. It was something to make the most of for however long it actually lasted.

Meantime, her phone was going to have to do for entertainment. People to text, games to play... few pictures to take (yeah yeah, of her kid). That sort of thing.

Effy shot him a little smirk. "Thought you were well aware of that already." She had a certain weakness when it came to him. "Took you until now to figure that out?"

"Nope," he said, shaking his head, "but it's always nice to reiterate the fact every so often, isn't it? I wouldn't want you to forget."

"Long as you remember it's not all me." Because she was not getting implicated in all this by herself. His kids too. Took more than just her to end up with those.

"Yeah, yeah," Alex said, not willing to admit that out loud or very obviously. "I mean, you are pretty hot. I'd be stupid not to come around, right?"

Effy huffed a little amused breath, a small grin curling her lips. "Sounds like more than just 'coming around' to me. A lot of support to it." Three fucking worlds worth. That they knew about. He couldn't get away from that.

"You're not gonna get me to admit anything," he laughed, shaking his head. "You'll have to assume that you're right."

"Who needs to assume?" she said, all confidence as she twisted to press a brief kiss to the edge of his mouth. "I am."

His non-answer was enough of an admission to her. So there.

"You are?" he asked, trying to lean in closer to her and catch a kiss of his own. "Certain of that, huh?"

Well, he wasn't saying she was work.

"Really fucking certain." And the way he was there and kissing her again, was not making her any less sure.

"Your lack of denial gives you away," she warned him. "Should probably work on that."

"If I denied, I think you'd call me a liar," Alex pointed out, smirking at her. "Am I wrong?"

"Nope." See, she could do honesty. He was absolutely right. "But why bother lying to me?"

"I dunno, see if you'd fall for it?" Alex asked, shrugging a shoulder. "See if you could find that gullible little girl you once were?"

"I was never gullible," she claimed easily. Please. "You met a little version of me. Like to think I was pretty smart." Which she was, but still probably more naieve than she was today.

"You were quiet and a little creepy," Alex said honestly, laughing in remembrance. "You were cute though but man, you had some penetrating eyes on you. I got a little worried that you could read my thoughts."

"Known me too long to be intimidated now?" she asked. The eyes hadn't changed all that much. Still managed to unnerve the odd stranger enough to look away.

"Depends on the situation," Alex said, shrugging a shoulder. "I'm sure there are circumstances in which you could intimidate me. Just gotta find the right day, the right situation and the right mood. It's something for you to shoot for."

Effy gave a short laugh, and nodded. "We'll see. Not been feeling in the right 'creep you the fuck out' mood lately."

"Takes a special kind of day." She curled a little smirk, "Or you to be a special kind of irritating."
