Room 323 [Thursday, Afternoon]

Her room felt bizarrely empty without Edward around, not that Effy would admit that out loud. Still, a week down the line with his stuff gone and the dorm lists changed, she was getting the feeling now, that he probably wasn't coming back.

So today, since she didn't really have anywhere else to be, was the day for rearranging and spreading herself out a little, and making the most of this having her own room.

Made it feel less empty, somehow, and gave her something to think about that wasn't what was going on at home, or certain other confusing moments of this week. Perfect, as far as she was concerned.

"I know what I'm talking about, what's so bad about me imparting my wisdom to the little man?" Alex asked, completely not seeing the problem. "He's gotta know that I know what I'm talking about, at least."

"Kind of of a different attitude to the whole thing," Effy pointed out. Griff was just a bit of a girl when it came to sex, wasn't he?

"Which is why I'm here," he said and grinned at her. Okay, that was the reason why he was here, yeah, but it was just kind of fun to bother her. "I need a favor. He doesn't want to talk to me but he wants to talk to someone. Think you could catch him sometime? I'm sure he'd listen to you more than me."

And he was amused enough by the idea that he was ready to offer up something in return since nothing was free.

"Could be a fun conversation." Griff could still barely look her in the eye, the last time she checked. Bet he'd just love to talk sex with her.

Wouldn't have said she had the same sort of attitude as him either but...

...but she wasn't him and, in Griff's mind, that made it better. For some reason. Even if Griff had seen her more naked than him.

"I can offer myself up if you need some convincing," he said, making himself at home by taking a nice sprawl on her bed. "If you want."

"How very self-sacrificing." Things he'd do for his roommate.

"Getting myself a pretty fucking good collection of IOU's, aren't I?"

"You've got one," he said and glanced towards her desk where he'd seen her stick it. "I didn't say this was an IOU. If you don't need convincing, it's nothing at all, in fact."

And it was still there, all ready for cashing in sometime.

Of course it was. He gave it a bit of a smirk before turning his attention back to her.

"Who says you do?" he retorted. "You haven't said anything either way."

"I don't just go around passing on my sage advice," she said, smirking herself and pushing away from her desk.

"So, go on, convince me."

"Want me to go make you a sandwich or something?" he offered, leaning back on his hands. "Peanut butter?"

"You don't look like you're about to move," she remarked as she made her way over.

"Comfortable?"

"Pretty comfortable, yeah," he said, smiling as she walked closer. "I give your bed high marks for that."

"Just being mine should give it bonus points," she decided, leaning against it as she looked down at him.

"I think of all beds equally until I actually get to see how they work up close and personal," he said, leaning back on his elbow now and sprawling a little more. "Can't just judge a book by its cover."

"You've been in my bed before," Effy reminded him. Just in case he'd forgotten that little detail.

"I know," he said and laughed briefly. He hadn't forgotten, no. "And that's why it qualifies for top marks. Because I've seen it up close and personal. It's not a bad bed at all."

"Got a criteria they've got to meet for that?" she asked, a little curious.

Bullshitting was a talent of his so he started listing things as soon as they came to mind.

"Cleanliness," he started, nodding. "Can't be having dirty fun on already dirty sheets. Ew. At least two pillows. In case there's a need for sleep."

He had three on his own bed.

"Unbroken headboard," he continued. "Good firm back support. That's good for a few things. Lack of cutesy, girly bedding. Good company."

"Put a lot of thought into this," she noted, smirking. "Bit too much free time?"

"You wish that was the case," he said and shook his head. She'd love the ammo for mocking. "No, my schedule's been nice and full. Get a day here and there but, you know. Most of the time, busy."

That was a lie but hey, she'd called him out on being bored enough to make a bed criteria list.

"Liar," Effy said mildly. "Told me you just spent a week doing fuck all," she reminded him.

"For the most part, I did do fuck all," he said, shrugging and just laying down on her bed now, one arm tucked behind his head. "But not all my time is free even when you're out of the fucking country. There are other things I can do."

"I'm sure." Well, of course there were other things to do. But he seemed to come find her a whole lot when she was in the country.

"But the rest of the time..."

"You shooting for a detailed rundown of my week or something?" he asked, making a face. "Or do you just want reassurance that I didn't do anything without you?"
