Room 323 [Saturday, Morning]

Effy's room was dark and freezing, and for the moment she was only putting up with it for the moment simply because she was pretty sure she'd feel colder if she got up and wandered around the dorms.

Not being very good at layers as a general rule, she was probably going to suffer this weekend.

Wasn't doing as badly as she could be, at the moment. Fortunately, she had a hell of a lot of candles, and found herself a long sleeved shirt, leggings and an oversized sweater she'd probably stolen from Tony at some point to pull way down over her knees and wrap her arms around as she fiddled with her phone before the batteries died on her.

Give her a minute, and she'd probably be back under her blankets. Weekend, so no one was going to force her to go anywhere. Could have had worse plans to keep her going until she ultimately got bored.

Between talking to him, talking to Griff and what she'd heard on radio, Effy'd pieced together a good chunk of it all on her own. If he didn't want to share, that was on him.

She did breathe a bit of a snicker at that, though. "Getting smacked in the face makes you need some nurturing?" Aww.

"I didn't get smacked. I went headfirst into my desk," he shared, sliding his tongue along his lip in reaction. "And yes, it does. I bled for awhile, you know. And I'm having to use lip balm."

Pity him. Piiiiiiiiiity.

"Aww." There was a little sarcasm in her tone, and still some smirk showing through as she hovered a few inches away. That wouldn't stop her idly musing that Griff was obviously tougher than she gave him credit for, shoving someone into a desk.

Not really the nurturing, 'make me feel better' type. But she could give it her best shot with the kissing.

"Yeah, it hurts." It didn't, not really but he could take advantage of a situation when it was presented to him. He gave her a little smile while he watched her, kind of a little pleased that he could say something silly like that and she'd play along with him.

"Should've seen me a few days ago, I looked even worse," he said, quieting his voice some. "Got all kinds of comments."

"Poor Alex," she said, running her thumb down his chin. "Injured, getting all those looks. Not having me to help you through. Must've been hard."

"It's been a difficult week." It'd actually been a pretty good week after all the Griff shit. "I had people telling me no one likes me and I'm an asshole and glaring. That stuff just hurts my feelings."

Yeah, right. He wore those as a badge of honor.

"You're here now though," he pointed out, smiling some under the movements of her thumb. "Doesn't have to be as hard now."

"Definitely not looking so upset about it now." Possibly because he never had, but it was bolstering to assume her being here helped. "Improvement."

"Some people like me so I know she was wrong there," he replied, shrugging one shoulder a bit. It was easy to shrug off that sort of crap when he knew it was wrong. "Gonna push me that last little bit back into happiness, then?"

"Changed your mind about being happy?" She'd get there. Been lingering up close enough teasing for long enough. But somehow, felt the need to check on that one.

"Dunno. Haven't gotten there yet so far. Not sure it's even possible." Glibly said as that was, he actually wasn't sure if he could be happy. Never had it happen before. "Think you could make me?"

Effy shrugged one shoulder, not really having much belief in all that either. Nothing could be perfect, but did you really need that for a bit of happiness?

Could try, though, and start that try leaning closer to kiss him, lightly for now, just in case he wasn't kidding about that lip hurting. She could be considerate.

Considerate, indeed. His lip had stopped really hurting a few days ago, only giving him trouble in occasional stabs of pain. Thankfully healing was a fast process.

All that made it easier to ignore the cold and return that kiss, just as lightly. His lips, cold as they'd been, warmed easily at this and Alex made a note of the fact that he'd found another reason to kiss her today.

Cold had some benefits, however minor and overshadowed by the negatives. That might actually be one of them.

Gave her the incentive to press closer against him and slide one leg over his. The more touching, the more body heat to share, right? Effy's reasoning as she wrapped her arms further around him.

More touching was just fine with Alex, cold or not. In fact, when there was more touching, it was pretty easy to forget it was cold. He could concentrate on deepening that kiss, warm lips against warm now. He could reach down for that leg she'd slid over him and pull it tighter against him, bringing her closer.

He could use the arm he had around to tuck her closer, sharing more body heat and providing a little more warmth. Her reasoning was right on track with Alex's. He kind of liked the cold now.

"Better now?" she asked, just barely pulling away, only to press another quick kiss to his lip.

"Yeah, I'm pretty good," he assured her, nodding slowly. "Warmer yet?"

"Getting there," she answered, grinning briefly and wasting very little time shifting back into kiss him again. Confirmation recieved, she might as well do a little more, curling her fingers into his shirt. Working for both of them in various ways.

"If you think you're hands are warm enough, you can get them under my shirts," he mumbled against her lips, not one to really turn down skin on skin. She'd had her hands in his shirts and around him that he figured they couldn't be ice cubes anymore.

And that was his time wasted before, yeah, he wanted to kiss her again. Cold made him a little affectionate and clingy, it seemed. Or maybe that was just her and the quiet moments they tended to have.

Couldn't turn down an invitation like that. Her hands weren't so cold as they were, at least, which was good enough she thought. Great time to release his shirt and slide her palms under to touch skin for real.

If she kept them moving, maybe he wouldn't notice they were still a little on the chilly side?

He noticed but they weren't nearly as cold as when she'd put on the back of his neck. He figured they'd warm easily and he could deal with the chill if she kept her hands there.

"Better?" he asked, eyes flicking down to where he knew her hands were before looking back at her. "See, not wearing that many layers. You managed to get your hands on me."

"Barely," she teased, circling her thumb against his side. "Mission figuring out which layer was the last one," she claimed. Exaggerating, just a little.

"And yet you persevered," he pointed out, leaning a bit into that hand of hers. "Tells me that if you wanted to find something bad enough, you would. And look at that, you did. Should I give you a prize?"

"Wouldn't say no." Of course.

Well... depending on what that prize was, she might take that back. Nothing to prove her wrong in that so far. "Why, got something for me?"

"I'm sure I could find something," he decided, mentally running through the things that were in his wallet and on his phone. Not much but he was pretty confident he could put something together. "You want a condom or something?"

Alex, who was pretty damn good at schooling his face into a mask of impassiveness, couldn't quite keep the grin off his face at that.

"Full of thoughtful and heartfelt gifts, aren't you?" she joked, unable to quite restrain a smile of her own. Considering how spur of the moment this all was, he could have done worse... Somehow.
