Having two classes (relatively early classes, no less) was a bit of a quick come down after a week spent, mostly drunk, in the Bahamas. It all went by that little bit too fast. At least Effy dealt with the aftermath of extended hangovers well.

Or, with large quantities of nicotene, anyway.

Smoking was actually more satisfying somehow, when your breath alone almost misted up in the cold air. Made the smoke she was idly blowing out her open window from her spot perched on the sill look all the more impressive.

Not bad.

Effy shook her head with a little amusement and idly tapped some ash off the end of her cigarette out the window.

"Picked a good time to be nosy," she told them. "Got about... six hours, give or take." Hopefully they were quick to prepare for this sort of thing.

"It's always a good time to be nosey," Rose said before really processing what Effy had said, and then she couldn't help smirking. "Tomorrow? Really?"

Emma pouted slightly. "I'm the telepath, and she's the one who already knew the answer," she complained. "This is why I don't like following rules about when I am and am not allowed to peek."

She looked over to Rose. "We have to find some really silly hats, really fast. Want me to call Fast Eddie's, and see if we can reserve the space?"

Ah, the benefits of being trusted to rifle through a guy's wallet.

"Really think you're gonna get him in a party hat?" Effy wondered. Couldn't quite see it, to be honest. Then again, they were obviously determined.

"Keep bitching, Emma," she said, rolling her eyes a little and obviously not too worried. "Poor thing, having to follow rules."

Rose smirked. "Alcohol's always useful. And come on, you know it'd be hilarious. Everyone will wear one. Except for us obviously."

Well, obviously.

"If I ever stop bitching, darling, you'll know I've been replaced by a pod person or some such nonsense," Emma pointed out.

"But I wore a hat for him on my birthday, so at the very least, he owes me this. But no guarantees how long I can make him keep it on, so have your cameras ready."

"Sure he's going to be so impressed we're plotting behind his back," Effy commented, looking largely amused.

Or he wouldn't so much.

Not that she was having any second thoughts. Sure he'd get over it.
